The settlement and development of Lukachukai was dependent
on the abundant water supply and excellent farmland. The
community is located near the foothills of the Lukachukai
Mountain. The Lukachukai Mountain connects with the Chuska
Mountains and stretch approximately 60 miles straddling the
Arizona and New Mexico state line. Roof Butte at an
elevation of 9,835 feet above sea level is the high point
of the Lukachukai Mountain range.
The Lukachukai Chapter conducts monthly meetings to keep
residents informed; residents have a forum to express their
opinions to their Navajo Nation Council Delegate or to
decide on matters concerning their chapter.
